Practical Training

This 12-week hands-on course involves practical experience in all areas, including fire fighting, sea survival, helicopter safety, radar operation and even wine appreciation. The course also includes 5 days sail training at sea under the guidance of qualified Royal Yachting Association (RYA) instructors.

 

Qualification:

Successful students will receive:

Duration:

12 weeks tuition.

 

Class Size:

Class size is kept to a minimum.

Entry Requirement:

Open. Suggested mininum age 17. International students require an IELTS score of 5.5 to undertake this course.

Due to practical elements in the Fire Fighting and Sea Survival courses, all candidates should be of reasonable fitness. For the STCW component a Medical Certificate of Fitness is required from a qualified medical practitioner before being accepted onto the course. Click here to download form. Unit Standards are accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Yachting certificates are accredited by United Kingdom's Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and New Zealand's Coast Guard Boating Education Services (CBES). STCW is accredited by Maritime New Zealand under the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
